What voids my insurance coverage?
DUI, racing on public roads, unauthorized drivers, off-track motorsport, commercial use, intentional damage, fraud, anything outside the policy's stated use voids coverage.
The insurance is built on the assumption that the vehicle is being used for legitimate personal driving by a verified, sober, licensed driver. Step outside that frame and coverage stops.
What automatically voids coverage
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (any state's legal limit).
- Street racing, drag racing, or aggressive contests on public roads.
- Letting an unauthorized driver behind the wheel.
- Off-track motorsport (drift events, autocross without proper rider, hill climbs).
- Commercial use: ride-share, paid passenger transport, delivery, photoshoot for compensation without prior approval.
- Driving outside the geographic area defined in the policy (Mexico, Canada, etc.).
- Intentional damage to the vehicle or third-party property.
- Failing to obtain medical attention when required at an accident scene (some carriers).
- Fraudulent claims or misrepresentation of facts.
On-track use is excluded
Sanctioned track use is explicitly excluded by our standard insurance, and RYDA fleet vehicles are not approved for track events.
If you're not sure whether something voids coverage, ask Service first. The cost of a 5-minute conversation is much lower than a denied claim.
